Raimundo Germán Olabide Karrera (Vitoria, Álava, Spain, 15 March 1869 - Toulouse, Francia, 8 September 1942) Spanish priest, linguistic and translator, author of a complete translation of the Bible into Basque. He started his studies in Orduña (Vizcaya), and later he entered in the Jesuit Loyola and was ordained priest in 1902. He studied ecclesiastical Veruela and Tortosa, and also of philosophy and letters. He worked as a teacher in Valladolid, Salamanca, Oña and Gijon. In spite of the Guipuzcoa origin of his parents, his mother language was Castilian; he started learning Basque 27 years after reading in Salamanca Arturo Campión. == Works and translations into Basque == In 1914 he translated San Ignacio de Loyolaspiritual Exercises with the title of "Loyola'tar Eneko Deunaren Gogo-iñarkunak ". Three years later, published a complete dictionary on anatomy of the human qualified body Giza-soña. In 1920 his translation published to the Basque of the Imitation of Christ de Kempis with the title of Kisto'ren antz-bidea, and on the following year it initiated the translation of the Bible. The New Testament took him ten years, and it published it in 1931 in Bilbao. Immediately after the expulsion of the Jesuits, it sheltered in Santuario de Aránzazu (Guipuzcoa),where he devoted himself for four years to the translation of the Old Testament.
